Description
This document is ABMA’s “Summary of Codes & Standards of the Boiler Industry (2001).” It is a reference guide that summarizes the major U.S. and international codes, standards, regulations, and certification programs that apply to the design, construction, operation, inspection, testing, maintenance, safety, and environmental compliance of boilers, pressure vessels, piping systems, combustion equipment, and related industrial systems. Rather than providing the full standards themselves, the document explains the purpose and scope of key standards from organizations such as ASME, ASTM, NFPA, the National Board of Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspectors, Underwriters Laboratories (UL), ASHRAE, CSA, British Standards, and European standards bodies. It also includes an overview of U.S. EPA emissions regulations and Clean Air Act requirements affecting steam-generating equipment. The guide is intended to help engineers, manufacturers, operators, inspectors, and facility owners identify which codes and standards apply to a particular boiler or pressure vessel application and where to obtain the complete governing documents.
